Signing the "Voters Deserve to Know" Pledge from Act on Mass
March 24, 2022
Today I signed the “Voters Deserve to Know Pledge” from Act on Mass. The Massachusetts State Legislature is exempt from open meeting and public records law with many committee votes never being published online, and also fewer and fewer floor votes being recorded making us one of the least transparent state legislatures in the country.
Transparency is extremely important to me and my campaign; representatives should be held accountable for and be able to explain every vote they make. This is why I signed to make all my votes available upon request and working towards making it easier to record votes in committee and on the floor if elected.

Hi everyone, I’m Peter Lally and I’m a Democrat running for State Representative for the 1st Bristol District including Foxboro, Mansfield (Precincts 2, 3, 6 and 7), and Norton (Precincts 3, 4, and 5). I’m a lifelong resident of Mansfield, graduate of Mansfield High School, and currently in my last semester finishing my Bachelor of Science degree in Public Communications and Political Science at the University of Vermont. I’m excited to connect with neighbors in our community and have conversations about the challenges our families are facing and how we can address them at the State House.
Right now we are lacking adequate representation in the State House in terms of direct communication with our community and putting forward legislation that will truly help our district and Commonwealth, and I plan to include as many people in those discussions as possible. Some of the many issues I am passionate about include fighting climate change for future generations, making public transportation more accessible, expanding voting rights, and improving our education system. These changes are necessary to continue the growth of our community and make Massachusetts an example for the nation.
Thank you for taking the time to learn a little bit about me and my campaign! If you would like to contact me or get information on how you can sign my nomination papers I would greatly appreciate it.
